Professor Ben Muller's (Political Science, King's University College) article, Visualizations of Conflict: The Bloody Barrier Constantly Renewed, is featured on the website opencanada.org as part of their in depth series on International Relations. CAS Prof Receives Western Green Award

American Studies 1020 instructor, Professor Tom Cull received special recognition at the 2013 Western Green Awards held on April 8. A year ago, Professor Cull founded the Thames River Rally, an organization dedicated to the cleanup of the Thames River. The story was featured in the April 11 edition of the Western News. The Centre for American Studies student club, The American Studies Association, will be hosting a Wine & Cheese Social at The Wave on Monday, March 25, 5:00-7:00pm. Critical Issues Volume 11

Volume 11 of the CAS publication series Critical Issues of Our Time is now available online. The article "The Commodification of Aesthetic Feeling: Race, Sexuality, and the 1920s Stage Model" was contributed by Associate Professor of History, and Director of the Centre for the United States and the American Studies Program at the University of Toronto, Elspeth H. Ben Muller Presents at Berlin Conference

Benjamin Muller (Political Science, King’s) presented his recently published chapter, “Borderworld: Biometrics, AVATAR and Global Criminalization,” in F. Pakes, ed., Globalisation and the Challenge to Criminology (London: Routledge, 2012): 129-145, at the EastBorderNet conference, “Relocating Borders: A Comparative Approach,” in Berlin, Germany this past weekend.  His presentation focused on the use and development of border technologies in the Sonoran Borderlands of Sonora, Mexico and Arizona, USA. Winter Course Registration

The last day to add a second-term half course online is  January 12, 2013 at 11:59pm.  Paper add/drop for second term courses is January 14 and 15, 2013. Some spaces are available in the selected topics class American Studies 2231G: Crimes of the Century: The American Courtroom as a Place, Space, and Public Spectacle. Graduate Student Publication

Caroline Diezyn's (MA 2012) book review on D. C. Gill's How We Are Changed by War: A Study of Letters and Diaries from Colonial Conflicts to Operation Iraqi Freedom has been published in Vol. 30 (Autumn 2012) of the British journal 49th Parallel.
